Financial stability is important in Islam, but it should be understood in a balanced way. Islam does not require a man to be rich before marriage, but he must be capable of fulfilling the basic needs of his wife—such as food, clothing, and shelter.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) encouraged marriage even for those with limited means, as long as they have good character and sincerity. Rizq (provision) comes from Allah, and marriage itself can be a source of barakah (blessing).
However, being careless about finances can create serious problems. A person should have a basic plan for income, expenses, and future responsibilities. Financial discipline, not wealth, is what matters most.
In modern times, both partners should also discuss financial expectations openly—such as lifestyle, savings, and career goals—to avoid misunderstandings later.
